Internationally recognized producers Elizabeth and Robert Muren, founders of Northern Lights Media, are producing their original musical, God with Us, at the Pikes Peak Center the week before Easter. There will be three showings on April 7-8, 2017. The executive producer is Andrew Wommack, founder of Andrew Wommack Ministries. This breathtaking biblical musical recounts the last days of the life of Peter, one of the original twelve disciples, after the resurrection of Jesus. Peter is the narrator and retells the story of redemption, from Abraham to Jesus, to the first-century Christians being held in a Roman prison cell.
Cowritten and produced by Elizabeth and Robert Muren of Norway, the production is codirected by Adam Stone of England alongside Elizabeth. This cinematic stage production depicts the story of the believers caught in an epic clash between the followers of Jesus and the Roman Empire. The story is told through the eyes of the aging Apostle Peter, who has become a leader in the early Christian church. As Nero, then emperor of Rome, persecutes the followers of Jesus in A.D. 64, Peter and fellow believers are arrested and awaiting execution. Armed only with his memories, Peter fights his greatest battle to protect his flock as he keeps Jesus’ words alive in them. The music and stories he shares engrave hope and courage in the hearts of the listeners.
Memorable melodies, costuming, and filmed scenery projected onto the back of the set all give viewers a sense of the historical times. A multidimensional effect is created when actors on stage also appear in the filmed scenes projected behind them. They alternate appearances between film and stage, giving the audience a sense of scope that a stationary stage is unable to give. In order to present an authentic, historical feel, the Murens’ film crew used the biblical village setting of The Great Passion Play in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Not only does that historical location have a life-size tabernacle, village, and Calvary set, it is also filled with donkeys, horses, and camels, adding an authentic, period feel to the production.
