Da Vinci & Michelangelo
The Titans Experience
The “Da Vinci & Michelangelo: The Titans Experience” original, national touring theatre performance make its Colorado Springs debut at the Pikes Peak Center for the Performing Arts on August 11th, 2017 for an 8:00pm performance benefiting Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum in Denver, CO.
Mark Rodgers, the creator and host of the multi-media performance, is also the curator of the DaVinci Machines and Michelangelo Exhibitions for North America. Rodgers originally developed the idea to compare and contrast the two geniuses while curating the Da Vinci and Michelangelo Exhibitions in Denver, CO.
“I realized you can’t talk about Da Vinci without Michelangelo,” explained Rodgers. “Many people don’t know that they were not only contemporaries but also fierce competitors.”
The performance has evolved starting as a tour of only Da Vinci then, over time, Rodgers incorporated Michelangelo with addition of the Michelangelo Exhibition arriving from Florence, Italy. According to Rodgers, the more tours and presentations he gave, the more information people wanted to know about these two monumental geniuses. What started out as a docent guided tour at the exhibition evolved into this one-of-a-kind, multi-media Broadway production that have been successfully touring the United States.
“The performance is so totally unique and I am sure most theater patrons have never seen anything like our show”, explained Rodgers. The multi-media event is a combination of host Rodgers and a production that includes movies, 3D-animations of machines and inventions, images of codices, artwork, paintings and sculptures. “Da Vinci and Michelangelo have an outreach and following that everyone can relate to.” explained Rodgers. “Everything they said and did relates to our lives today.” By the end of the performance we are connecting Da Vinci and Michelangelo to our present day geniuses of Les Paul, Van Cliburn and Paul McCartney”.
“We are honored for our performances to be benefiting Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum in Denver, CO. We want to provide resources to sustain their mission and dedication for the preservation, restoration and education of the dream of flight started by the “Architect of Flight” Leonardo Da Vinci. Da Vinci and Michelangelo would be proud of our association and of their forward thinking to inspire everyone now and for generations to come”. Rodgers continues, “We want everyone to experience these incredible genius up close and personal and to apply them to our own lives”.
The actual interactive Da Vinci Machines Exhibition is currently on display at Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum in Denver, CO.
“It is has been a pleasure working alongside Mark Rodgers to bring his Da Vinci exhibition and performance to Denver. His energy and enthusiasm brings the lives of these two geniuses to life in a fun and engaging way” states Ben Theune, Director of Marketing for Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum.
